as a life-long resident of the “west-side” of norfolk, i’m kinda a big fan! i saw these antique subway signs that were blogged on this site here. LOVED them. I also recall seeing similar reproduction signs in the Pottery Barn catalog last year. Here is another great link provided by Melissa! Thanks, girl!
and, borrowing this idea from the same blog, you may want to tune into Ace of Base’s The Sign for your listening pleasure….this brings back some CRAZY high school memories.
i thought i would be fun to design a similar poster design featuring west norfolk neighborhoods (with the intent of having printed to fill some empty space in our hallway downstairs). SO, i had some fun in photoshop and created my own version of a subway sign for all you norfolkians. i sized this poster at 36×48, used “roadway” font, then ran a texture action from itty bitty actions. i had fun with the font kerning/spacing (and with deciding what neighborhoods to include)….maybe i’ll make an “east side” poster next (give a shout out to our OV neighbors).

i’m going to have this printed on fine art paper then framed at hampton roads wholesale in newport news.
