free willette vintage photo frame download

sorry to have all but abandon this blog. to say that we have been one busy family is an understatement. we took a little anniversary trip (WITHOUT kids) in early june, then a HUGE family vacation with our entire family (in-laws, godparents, etc.) in late june, and we’ve been super busy with summer – late bedtimes, crazy sleep schedules for the kids, family in town, family celebrations, etc.

i have NOT forgotten about you all. summer is historically my time to be totally unmotivated. my husband and i usually spend our evenings on the front porch with a glass of wine and our iPads and send each other emails and texts rather than talk (i’m kinda kidding about that last part).

here is a little something for you all to enjoy. i have been digging through family photos for a photo wall i’m trying to finish here at home, and i scanned these old family photos of my husband’s family to create the frames. these are layered psd files for you to download and enjoy. just paste your image INTO the layer for the photo, and you have a vintage inspired photo frame for your photos. for more on how to use a willette layered template, read here.

be sure to run a sepia/black and white action on your photo to REALLY make it look vintage! my free actions and presets are here.

the above photos were taken of flossie a few weeks ago (i know, i have REALLY been neglecting this blog). we installed a retractable clothes line, and as i was drying some sheets outside, i had the perfect photo opp of my little mcsaucy princess! thankfully, she was in one of her pretty nightgowns rather than the printed nylon princess pajamas from walmart that she is usually rocking!!! the simple classic nightgown added to the vintage feel of the photos “session.”

willette FREE British Lit LR set…

i’m totally into the British Royal Wedding today, and i just saw the new Jane Eyre movie (my fav novel), so i’m feeling a little British today!

here is a new FREE set of LR presets for all of you awesome babes and dudes. these work best using unprocessed, well exposed RAW files (but you CAN use them for JPG files as well). this set includes six presets – two color and four toned black and whites….all for your editing pleasure.

the presets have cool names like: tess of the d’urbervilles, great expectations, emma, jane eyre, wuthering heights and pride and prejudice (all AWESOME british lit books).

PS: i LOVE breaking “photography” rules….i’m still not sure who writes/creates these things….but i’m taking a portrait with a 35mm lens…CLOSE up (gasp!) AND i did an interesting crop that clips his chin….OH THE HORROR!…hahahaha!

instagram photoshop action {FREE}

hey all you iPhone instagram app users….i just wrote an action to help you print those files as 4×6 photo prints for you all (and it is free).

here is my original photo:

and here is my photo AFTER running the action….this will print as a 4×6 print so i can order at my photo lab….

i was just putting together my costco print order for my project life albums (i will share my layouts with you soon….i have about two weeks to catch up on since our little vaca last week)…and as i went to order prints of my instagram prints, i found that because they are set up as 4×4 prints, i wasn’t getting the “true” instagram look when ordering via my lab, so i wrote an action that will add a white background/extension to the 4×4 so it will print nicely as a 4×6.

you can either leave the white “extension” on your print, or you can cut it off once you get your prints back.

the goal of this action is to just make life easy for you and to encourage you to print your photos rather than leave them on your phone!

st. valentine’s day templates – 2011

woo hoo! are you getting ready for St. Valentine’s Day? i am….already planning what my kiddos are going to wear for their Valentine’s portraits.

Here is another set of Valentine’s Day templates for 2011. You can find last year’s here.

Here is this year’s….please let me know how they work out (i feel like the massive lack of sleep around here has impeded my ability to actually focus). These are set up as layered .psd files with vectors for the text/graphics. You can add your own text layers to personalize these. For how to insert your own photos into a layered psd file, please read my tutorial here.

willette RAW LR presets….

so…for all of you who like it in the RAW….i wrote some LR presets for you! (can you tell that my baby girl is FINALLY taking REAL naps and finally sleeping in her OWN bed at night???…..i feel like a new woman…it has been nearly 10 months of me holding her ALL. DAY. LONG….i’m not kidding).

i seem to have a bit of time on my hands….so i wrote these for you guys!!!

here is the kicker….to get the FREE download, you have to visit the willette facebook fan page and “like” it if you don’t already (and, the label warning on my facebook fanpage should read “enabler alert”…i like to link to cool photo stuff!). Tell all your bff photo buddies! I’ll be adding more freebie links directly to the fb fan page!

i also reuploaded all of my other Lightroom, Photoshop and Elements actions/presets. Several of you have had problems downloading these from my site, so i put all the links on the facebook page for ease of use/download.

These are all grouped in zip folders (so you’ll have to have winzip in order to open the files).
