free willette vintage photo frame download

blog feature download image

sorry to have all but abandon this blog.  to say that we have been one busy family is an understatement.  we took a little anniversary trip (WITHOUT kids) in early june, then a HUGE family vacation with our entire family (in-laws, godparents, etc.) in late june, and we’ve been super busy with summer – late bedtimes, crazy sleep schedules for the kids, family in town, family celebrations, etc.

i have NOT forgotten about you all.  summer is historically my time to be totally unmotivated.  my husband and i usually spend our evenings on the front porch with a glass of wine and our iPads and send each other emails and texts rather than talk (i’m kinda kidding about that last part).

here is a little something for you all to enjoy.  i have been digging through family photos for a photo wall i’m trying to finish here at home, and i scanned these old family photos of my husband’s family to create the frames.  these are layered psd files for you to download and enjoy.  just paste your image INTO the layer for the photo, and you have a vintage inspired photo frame for your photos. for more on how to use a willette layered template, read here.

be sure to run a sepia/black and white action on your photo to REALLY make it look vintage! my free actions and presets are here.

the above photos were taken of flossie a few weeks ago (i know, i have REALLY been neglecting this blog).  we installed a retractable clothes line, and as i was drying some sheets outside, i had the perfect photo opp of my little mcsaucy princess!  thankfully, she was in one of her pretty nightgowns rather than the printed nylon princess pajamas from walmart that she is usually rocking!!! the simple classic nightgown added to the vintage feel of the photos “session.”

st. valentine’s day templates – 2011

2011 val template examples

woo hoo!  are you getting ready for St. Valentine’s Day?  i am….already planning what my kiddos are going to wear for their Valentine’s portraits.

Here is another set of Valentine’s Day templates for 2011.  You can find last year’s here.

Here is this year’s….please let me know how they work out (i feel like the massive lack of sleep around here has impeded my ability to actually focus).  These are set up as layered .psd files with vectors for the text/graphics.  You can add your own text layers to personalize these.  For how to insert your own photos into a layered psd file, please read my tutorial here.

You can download the file here.  Have fun! (the file is a zip folder…you will need winzip to open it)  And be sure to spread the LOVE (you can share this on facebook or tweet it!).

Speaking of LOVE, have you signed up for my FREE class The Joy of LOVE yet???  Please  join in on the fun this february!

These are sized at 4×5.5 inches (and i used mpixpro’s sizing template).

Be on the lookout this week for a Valentine’s Shot list from me, and other portrait ideas for Valentine’s Day.

free friday: father's day storyboard with video instructions

i cannot believe that father’s day is in a little over a week.  have you planned something nice to the father of your children yet?  here is a storyboard i designed for father’s day for all of you to use.  it is a 10×20 inch storyboard….all you do is insert your photos.  the file is set up as a layered psd file…so you elements and photoshop users can use it (the video instructions are for photoshop).

i would print this at color, inc.  they ship super fast and are very reasonable.  the print size, once again is 10×20 (you can find frames to hold this at most large craft superstores).  AND, did you know that color, inc has a special coupon on my blog for my readers (check it out on the right hand side of the blog). (PS: the storyboard i designed holds 3 5×7 horizontal photos).

here is what the finished product will look like:

and here is how to use it:

you can download the file here (be sure to use a valid email address to receive the file)….the file will be emailed to you.

friday freebie: client bag tag template

click image to download the psd files

i used this template to create a custom client luggage tag for the children’s backpack or lunchbag.  It is a great visual reminder of their family photographer, and great way to generate word of mouth on the street.

to learn how to use a layered photoshop template, click above under photographer tools for a detailed tutorial.
to use this template, i inserted my client/child photo into the template, flattened the file, and ordered it as a 4×6 photo print from my photo lab.  i then trimmed the photo to fit in a laminated wallet sized pocket, laminated it using my laminating machine, attached a luggage tag string, and then you have a super cute bag tag.
i also use these on my son’s sports bags, backpack and lunchbox.  i’ve had a few clients use these on their keyring as well.
don’t forget to put your logo/webaddress on the back :)

happy saturday!!!!  My friday freebie is a tad late this week…..baby is teething.  Ugh.  SO….i’m happy to introduce our newest sponsor today….COLOR, INC! Check out their link on my sidebar to the right….you can get free prints when you open an account using the code WLD10.

AND, they’re also sponsoring a giveaway today….just for you willette readers.  They have these A-MA-ZING little spiral bound photo books.  they are SOOOO cute.  i ordered my own 5×5 sample filled with little miss b’s photos, and when i showed my family at our easter egg hunt party, the grandmothers were seriously fighting over who got to keep it.  SOOOOOO….all you children’s photographers, this would be an EXCELLENT product to offer your clients.  I have proof that the grandmothers dig these (i really should have videotaped the grandmothers’ reactions to these….would make a very convincing sell!).
The beautiful thing about these albums is that they have a really thick cover and back (that have a photo printed on the cover and back).  I see tons of uses for these albums….they come in great sizes.

You can use these for:

  • gift albums for your family members (they fit beautifully into handbags)

spring 2010 colors

spring 2010 colors

i LOVE color….love playing with it in photoshop and with grapic design creations.  I figured i would create a spring 2010 color chart to share with you all.  This would be a great tool to use when trying to pick new colors for a marketing piece or logo for your business.  Just four fun little spring palattes for you to play with.  To use, just click on the image, save it on your harddrive, then open it in photoshop.  Use the eyedropper tool to copy the color information into your own pieces.

You can also use these colors to personalize/customize any of my templates that i have on the site!  Have fun!

fun friday free share: photo proof boxes

Image Box 5x7 Vertical 100 prints WILLETTE

i LOVE LOVE LOVE these boxes from whcc.com and mpixpro.com.  They make GREAT client gifts or a great way to package up your packages that include several prints.  You can get these printed at whcc.com and mpixpro.com.  This particular file is set up for whcc.com.  It is the 5×7 100 print size.  All you have to do is insert your photos, replace the text with your text, add your studio web address and logo, and you’re done. Such a great, professional way to present client portraits.

 download here:

This is a layered psd file…fully editable.  The font used is ecolier.  I included all the bleeds, etc for the file.  To view the guides, be sure your guides are showing in photoshop.  To view them, look in VIEW > SHOW > GUIDES.

This would also make an AMAZING add-on to your mommy and me mini-sessions this spring.

free friday share: client referral card

blog post

it is another friday (that is insane how fast the weeks are going by), and, it is another friday share!  today i made four little wallet-sized client referral cards.  you can put your webaddress on them, phone number, studio name, whatever works best for you.  OR, you can just print some up with your client’s name as a thank you.  This is an inexpensive way to show your client that you care.  You can also edit the type layers and turn these into little thank you “notes” that you slip in with your child’s thank you notes.  The possibilities are endless.  Once again, these are fully editable, layered psd files.  Template directions can be found here.  Click the image to begin the download.  Thanks for visiting!  Have an awesome weekend!!!!!

product highlight: moirai storyboard creator

mommy collaga

just wanted to share this amazing new tool that i recently discovered…..the moirai storyboard creator.  this tool is so easy to use….makes storyboard creation super easy.  i’m looking foward to using it for my blog photos….nice to mix up the photo layouts a bit.   The photoshop script basically does all the work for you…the hardest part is trying to decide which photos you want to place in the collage.  thought i’d share!  visit the site and see how easy it is!

also, here are a couple more shots from my mommy and me posing guide!  super fun!!!!
