the vision:
I view a portrait session as a time for having a blast with the adorable kiddos – as a time to capture their beauty and innocence….i do NOT view a portrait session as a time to fumble through, randomly clicking my shutter in hopes to land the perfect shot. I enter each home with a plan of sorts….a mental checklist that has been tried hundreds of times, a checklist that is successful.
As a photographer, you have enough to worry about. You should not have to enter a home and THEN formulate how you will photograph. Just as a builder has a blueprint, a writer has an outline and a football team has a playlist, the photographer should have a plan. That plan is The Portrait Cookbook {recipes for success}. This list of 28 tried and proven poses for children will take the guess work out of what works and what doesn’t. It will further give your photography more variation in poses and ideas. And you will come into the session looking like the star quarterback.
This system provides 28 “recipe cards” with a photo example of the pose in action. It also contains a checklist for room-by-room and location-by-location ideas for how to pose a child and what to do in each setting. Your portrait sessions will become more streamlined, and you will spend less time firing your shutter, and more time getting to know the child. Isn’t our job more about creating memorable, positive portrait sessions for our clients, and less about bumbling around trying to figure out what to do next. When you have a plan, you are more in control of the situation. The kiddos will be more engaged with you as you confidently move from one photo scenario to the next.
The “cookbook” is presented as a downloadable file containing 28 jpg images for you to print, along with other organizing detail sheets, such as an equipment checklist, a guide on how to successfully use the portrait posing cards, and a checklist to guide you room by room through a client’s home or outdoor setting. Payment accepted is via credit card via paypal merchant or via a paypal account.
Also included is an actual play-by-play session presented as a downloadable contact sheet. This will show you how I can create a session with at least 30 unique poses in a matter of minutes.
Geared towards children’s photographers who need guidance on how to vary poses, who need to shorten the amount of time spent photographing at a session, and/or photographers who are just starting to branch out and start their own photography business, this resource is the result of my need to harness my desire for fantastic photos into a more streamlined approach…so I can have fun with the kiddos I photograph rather than fumble with how I’m going to achieve a great portrait.
